Key Stage 5 - Sixth Form

Once the euphoria and relief of GCSE results has sunk in, it’s time to focus on the future. Academus Sixth Form offers a unique opportunity for young people to move on to the new phase of A ‘Levels, BTECS and Progression Pathways.

Academus Sixth Form offers a broad range of subjects together with then change to improve any of your GCSEs that you may want to retake. We offer programmes which will prepare you for you transition to University and/ or the world of work.

Joining Academus Sixth Form

The Sixth Form takes students from age 16 where students embark on their Level 3 studies. Students in the Sixth Form have moved on from their GCSE/ BTEC/ LEVEL 1/2 courses to become independent learners.

All students joining Academus Sixth will be required to have a GCSE at grade B or above in the subject that you they want to study. Additionally, a grade C is required in English and Maths. If English and Maths grades are lower than a C, all applicants will have to attend extra classes in both Maths and English to improve their grades as all universities require a minimum of a grade C in these two core subjects in order to apply for any course.

Our aims

Our aim is to provide a high quality supportive environment offering full-time Sixth Form academic and general education courses that equip learners with the qualifications, skills and qualities needed for a successful future in higher education, employment and life.

Central to the ethos of Academus is pastoral support throughout the two years. Support comes through Personal Tutors, all experienced and successful Sixth Form teachers as well as subject teachers. Academus believes that Sixth Form experience should be a special time in our students’ lives. In order to prepare our students for Further Education and the world of work, we have:
