Schools

Academus offers a flexible approach to working with schools with the primary aim of providing mainstream education to different student profiles. We make provision for those either at risk of exclusion or on fixed term exclusion, as well as students whose education has been disrupted due to illness or personal circumstances.

Academus also gives unique opportunities to Year 11 students who do not thrive at school with a specialised programme of study which prepares them for the world of work or further education. Learning at Academus takes place with a mixture of live online lessons as well as archived sessions. Students are usually able to join our provision at short notice to ensure continuation in their learning. Academus' flexible approach allows students to join our provision at short notice. This ensures that a continuation is maintained for students who are not in school. In particular, Year 11 students who through unforeseen circumstances have had their education interrupted can join Academus' Fast Track GCSE programme. This programme starts in January and allows students to achieve at GCSE level.

Supported Children

Academus Online Live Classroom can provide a positive and flexible learning environment for students who are supported and/or in care. The Academus school structure with dedicated teachers and form tutors helps students maintain uninterrupted learning as well as provide consistency and continuity even if students are being moved between boroughs. Those students in schools, learning centres or in foster/residential placements with broadband connectivity can be supported, helping them to achieve academic success and evolve into confident independent individuals ready for work or further education.

Gifted and Talented

Sometimes it's not easy to progress at a pace that suits your needs. Academus encourages G&T students to fulfil their potential and make progress at a pace that suits them. With small class sizes, differentiated lessons to meet the requirements of every student, as well as enhanced support from tutors, the virtual live classroom and the VLE, Academus can help G&T students accomplish their full potential without the restrictions of a traditional classroom.

Inclusion

Academus' Live Online Classroom technology provides quality education to students who are unable to access mainstream education due to geographical, social or environmental barriers and who have become the responsibility of local authorities.

Academus' Live Classroom technology is an ideal solution to meet the statutory obligations of providing up to 25 hours a week of quality education at Key stage 3 and 4 to students otherwise excluded from mainstream education.

Academus can provide KS3/KS4 teaching either independently or in partnership with Pupil Referral or Reintegration Units to those whose education has been interrupted due to any form of exclusion.

Academus' Live Online Classroom is ideal for helping students re-engage with their learning, especially those who previously found it difficult to integrate in a traditional classroom. Our programme is ideal for reaching students who are in secure units, homes or in local authority centres as we offer personalised educational programmes as well as opportunities such as Fast Tracked GCSEs.

Medical Conditions

We believe that all children should be given opportunities for achievement and success. Therefore, Academus provides ideal personalised solutions for students all the way to KS5. We support students who are at home or in hospital with medical conditions which restricts their access to mainstream education. With each live lesson recorded, the Academus Online Classroom provides the ideal flexible solution for students who have to attend frequent medical appointments or are not well enough to attend live lessons.

Students who are at home due to health issue, refusing to attend school or school-phobic can now maintain their education in a secure, non-threatening learning environment which offers the opportunity to build the foundations for reintegration into mainstream education or transition into further education.

EAL Students

Academus Online Classrooms are ideal for students who are new arrivals to the UK and find it difficult to integrate into mainstream education. We have a unique programme that integrates Core subjects with a focus on EAL, delivered by qualified teachers who will support students until they are ready to reintegrate into mainstream education or complete their minimum KS4 requirement for a post 16 progression.

Home Tutored

Academus is ideal for students whose lifestyle dictates that they do not attend mainstream education; we offer access to the National Curriculum with a flexible approach to student centred programmes in our Live Online classrooms with lessons delivered by subject specialist teachers.

British Education

Academus Online Live Classroom is ideal for students wishing to access quality British Education whilst living abroad. Each subject is taught by specialist teachers in groups of no more than 12 per class. With live lessons recorded, Academus’ VLE provides an opportunity to re-visit lessons which may not have been understood or missed entirely. All our resources are available on the VLE - all you need is a broadband connection!

We offer a wide range of subjects as well as support by teachers and form tutor which means that British education is open to you wherever you are, at the click of a mouse.

Academus Sixth Form

Academus offers an exciting choice of subjects at Key stage 5. Academus Live Online Classrooms only has a maximum of 12 students and each lesson is delivered by subject specialist teachers, which enhances the potential of success at KS5 assessment level. Academus’ online learning opportunity prepares learners for independent learning which determines success at Higher Education level.
