Our Pathways

Academus offers Foundation and Higher Tier GCSEs and FasTrack GCSEs for Maths, English, ICT, History and Science to help learners who otherwise are not able to access mainstream education. We also offer Vocational Modular Pathways for those students who do not cope with the pace of controlled assessments and exams.

Our expertise

Academus has excellent record and experience in working with young offenders and Looked after Children- all within the safe and secure online classes that are live and recorded hence available to mentors, guardians and all responsible adults. We have great deal of expertise in working with students who are otherwise unable to access mainstream education in an ordinary school classroom for example teenage parents and young people with Asperger’s, school phobic, medically ill to name a few.

At Academus, qualified specialist teachers deliver live online lessons based on the UK National Curriculum and QCF qualifications. Our delivery is completely flexible, with classes being delivered from 5 hours to 25 hours per week from as little as £4.41/hour. Our live online lessons have a maximum of 12 students and all classes are taught by qualified Enhanced CRB checked teachers. Technical issues are quickly resolved with our dedicated and knowledgeable support staff.

Ofsted: Rigorous Quality Assurance

We exceed all the best practice recommendations in the recent Ofsted Report on Alternative Provision. "Where communication was good, the school or unit shared relevant information with the provider and agreed what information the provider would collect to show a student's progress. The school or unit then used this information well to celebrate success or intervene when things were not going well. Where alternative provision is successful, the school or unit keeps firm 'ownership' of students who attend it and ensures that the placement meets the student's needs at all times. Rigorous quality assurance is a crucial part of this."
